Taiwan-based electronic trio APRIL RED embodies a harmonious fusion between music from the East and West by blending a variety of electronic styles with traditional Chinese influences. The band’s marriage of electronic music genres, such as house and drum ‘n’ bass, with traditional Chinese instruments like the erhu and guzheng is fronted by DJ Code, Shao Shih, and Pierre Hujoel, all of whom bring something unique to this collaboration.

DJ CODE: Band Leader, DJ, Producer. One of Taiwan’s top DJs, as well as a multitalented music producer,and film music composer.And he also was the first successful DJ in Taiwan to be invited to the worlds largest music festival GLASTONBURY at main stage The Blues in 2015. No stranger to high-profile clients, he has spun at launch parties formajor brands like Louis Vuitton, Aston Martin, BMW, Hennessy , and produced music for prominent companies like ASUS, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Samsung. His single “Buddha” from his debut EP topped #50 on online sales platform Beatport.Recently released his official remix of the single “Almost Home” from Moby’s album “Innocents”.

PIERRE HUJOEL: Keyboardist, Composer. Classically trained Belgian musician who majored in piano performance and composition in college. Film music composer.

SHAO SHIH: Lead Singer, Lyricist, Composer. Fashion and visual artist who caught DJ Code’s attention with her delicate, yet powerful voice.

Between Shao Shih’s hauntingly ethereal vocals and the interplay of DJ Code and Pierre Hujoel’s use of the electronic keyboard and triggers to weave a rich tapestry of eastern and western sounds, APRIL RED officially came to fruition in 2011.

APRIL RED’s progressive brand of artistry has netted them multiple invitations to perform at clubs and prestigious music festivals. APRIL RED not only got the opportunity to showcase their distinct timbre at the Moonlight Carnival Party as part of Spring Scream, Taiwan’s biggest music festival in Kenting, but also China’s Beijing SOUND OF THE XITY Music Festival and Lantern clubs.

Qingdao International Music Festival and Chengdu Zebra Music Festival, The band also received invitations from overseas, performing at Moscow’s Izvestia Concert Hall as part of the rAsia.com Festival and Canada’s biggest music festival CMW inToronto, as well as Hello Taiwan festival in New York. WE LOVE ASIA」 Festival in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia.And they performing at USA biggest music festival SXSW inTexas 2016.

The band further capitalized on its growing momentum after their debut EP release on HinoteRecords, with the lead track “Olive Tree” being nominated Best Electronic Single at the 2013 Golden Indie Music Award held in Taipei.

The band was then selected by Taiwanese music portal StreetVoice as one of the top 10 bands to look out for in 2014, inviting them perform at The Next Big Thing 2014 atLegacy Taipei that showcases the best emerging independent bands in Asia.

In addition, the Taiwanese band’s uniquely fused EDM sound garnered the attention of US house band Late Night Alumni, who sought out RED as the opening act for their sold-out concert at Taipei’s Neo Studio.
